What is the Discipleship Walk?
The Discipleship Walk is a three-day weekend designed to give believers an opportunity to take a break from regular routines and experience the love of God in a new and fresh way. It is the intention of the Discipleship Walk to lead each person into a closer relationship with Christ where they might become more intentional and mature in their faith, so that each can make a difference for Christ in his or her world.
Almost 3,000 adults and teens have experienced the Discipleship Walk since its inception in 1989. It is heavily patterned after the Walk to Emmaus,
the Cursillo Movement, the Great Banquet, and other similar weekends across denominational lines.
Who is involved?
The Discipleship Walk is a joint ministry between Radiant Christian Life
in Westfield and Crossroads
Church in Avon. Each weekend is led by teams of Lay people from these and
other churches, along with a pastoral representative from one of the churches.
Do I have to attend Radiant or Crossroads in order to attend the Walk or work a team?
The Crossroads/Radiant Discipleship Walk is open to believers regardless of where they attend church;
however, priority is given to members of Crossroads and Radiant until 30
days prior to the Walk weekend, at which time registration is open to
anyone. Click HERE to volunteer for an
upcoming Discipleship Walk Team. Click HERE

What happens on the weekend?
First
of all, there is no hiking involved. The weekend is highly structured and
includes a series of talks, discussions, chapel times, prayer time, music,
lots of food and fun. It has been described as a ‘short course in
Christianity’ and many believers feel that this weekend experience has
renewed and re-energized their walk with the Lord. The Walk is not
intended as a “quick fix” for a person in crisis or as a vehicle for the
salvation experience. If you would like to take your Christian walk to a
deeper level or if you are experiencing a spiritual dryness, you will
surely benefit from the Discipleship Walk. To find out more about where the weekends are held,
please visit Take A Tour.
When can I go?
How much does it cost?
The fee is $100 per person (Youth Walk disciples
may qualify for an "Early Bird" registration discount), and that includes all meals and lodging. There are
some scholarship funds available – we do not want money to stand in the
way if a person desires to attend the Discipleship Walk. Incidentally, if
you have attended a weekend and would like to contribute to the
scholarship fund for someone new to attend, please contact either our
treasurer, Lorna Mills, at (317) 873-0221 or the registrar, Erin Durnell,
at (317) 698-5885.
